Lest We Forget Lecture Series

Lest We Forget: BHCA’s Literary & Historical Talk Series

The Bellefonte Historical and Cultural Association (BHCA) sponsors Lest We Forget, a series of occasional talks focused on influential 20th-century American authors whose popularity has waned over time. The series aims to reintroduce these writers to contemporary audiences through thoughtful presentations and community discussion. Talks have included explorations of the works and lives of John Steinbeck and F. Scott Fitzgerald, with future programs expected to highlight authors such as Ernest Hemingway, Toni Morrison, John O’Hara, Pearl S. Buck, and John Updike.

These talks are typically held in the Community Room of the Bellefonte Library on late Thursday afternoons. Each event includes time for audience discussion, and light refreshments are served.

In addition to the Lest We Forget series, BHCA uses the same venue and time slot to host a variety of other literary and historical presentations. Past programs have featured a local author specializing in Pennsylvania folklore and landmarks, a talk on Benjamin Franklin’s views on education, and an illustrated lecture on the history of Bellefonte’s African Methodist Episcopal congregation.
